| After the obligatory line-up photo at the Land's End Hotel, the teams headed off towards their chosen tasks on the way to Brean Sands on the north coast of Somerset. (Photo: The referee's car leaving Land's End) | With the rugged scenery of north Cornwall & Devon ahead, not to mention Exmoor National Park, teams "Dollywobbles" & "AtoZ" elected to take their task free day. | A surprising find on the rally route was a green 2cv at one of the Quick Clue locations. Having been parked and what appeared to be abandoned in the Quince Honey Farm car park at South Molton, this poor car looked destined to rot away. (Photo: Green 2cv in the car park of Quince Honey Farm, South Molton). | To enhance the neglected aspect of this unfortunate find, the poor 2cv had weeds growing up through the fan grill. Maybe someone will find the owner and rescue this poor little vehicle before he rots away. (Photo: Weeds growing through the abandoned 2cv in South Molton). |

| Running through the next National Park on the rally route, Exmoor was more of a challenge than originally anticipated. With the water level high and clues on either side of the famous Tarr Steps, the teams opted to walk across to get the final answer. With a promise of a tow from the Exmoor Park Ranger's Land Rover if sunk, it was an attempt that had to be tried. The Rally Referee's Charlie ended up being towed out and a warning was given to all the teams. The rest of the participants opted for returning up the hill and taking the 20 mile detour around the ford. (Photo: The Rally Referee's 2cv after being towed out of the swollen ford and getting restarted again). | Heading northwards from Brean Sands the teams followed the coast until they reached the Severn Bridge. With the option of a detour around if desired, all chose to take the quick route across the bridge itself and pay the toll. From Chepstow the route headed into the countryside, through small villages and very narrow roads, before reaching the Brecon Beacons's National Park. Another minor breakdown was resolved when team "Rolls Canardly" found their fan belt nearly shredded. (Photo: Rachel shows us the condition of Rolls Canardly's worn fan belt). |

| Along the rally route, some of the clues were easy to find, some were more difficult. The full rally participants remember well the roadside memorial in Lincolnshire on the first day, additionally the one at Glan Denys was nicely hidden amongst the trees, facing the wrong way to be seen as you drive the direction of the rally. (Photo: Rally Referee at the Glan Denys roadside memorial). | The one thing that can be said about the 2008 2cv Eight Ball Rally was that you most definitely ended up going This Way, That Way and The Other Way. The way from this clue took the teams across the hills and down alongside Mt Snowdon on the road to Bangor. (Photo: Signpost clue at the bunkhouse in Corris, Nth Wales). |

| With the penultimate stage nearly completed, the Eight Ball clue took the teams across to the island of Anglesey, where they found the required church at the foot of a 35% hill. (Photo: The Rally Referee's car at Llanddona Beach church during rally preparation). | With Stage S6 completed, the teams headed for the last campsite before the finish back in Leicestershire. Crossing the Menai Bridge into Bangor they were all back on the UK mainland once again. | Joining the teams at the Treborth campsite were local 2CVers Louise & Graham. They only stayed for the evening, and then they were gone again, but the teams still had one more day to complete, and all was to play for with regards to the Southern Half Rally trophy. | With the scores for the Southern Half Rally trophy very close, and the Eight Ball crutial in this aptly named rally, the teams will surely remember Castel Dinas Bran, Nr Llangollen. Eight important points per clue, eight clues, some on one side of the hill, others on the far side and a few at the top of that steep zigzag footpath. A challenging Eight Ball to weed out the competitive from those who are just joining in for fun. (Photo: The Rally Referee with Castel Dinas Bran in the background). | Following the final challenge of North Wales, the final run into Leicestershire became easier by comparison. The only problem on a couple of clues was that they were only printed on certain maps. (Photo: The Rally Referee at the Legacy Tower during rally preparation). |

| After the final scores were calculated, prizegiving began. Mark Sherrif of "Team Shed" was a clear winner for the Supreme Rally Champion silver salver. Being the only team to realise that St Michael's Mount was a time sensitive tidal causeway made his already significant lead virtually unbeatable. The Southern Half Rally trophy was much closer, with two teams scoring identical points. The tiebreak rules were activated and team "Rolls Canardly" took home the trophy this year. (Photo: Tim of team "AtoZ" laughing at his "Most Entertaining Team" Award they were given. Both Tim & Dave kept us all in kinks during the whole first half of the rally with their daily tales of woe in the 1950s ripple). | Unbeknown to myself the teams had met up and made a presentation for me, in appreciation of making this rally idea into a reality. My gratitude is great for the support everyone gave me, the dedication of the teams and their willingness to enter into the spirit of the competition. The presented Eight Ball Map now takes pride of place on my wall. Many thanks to all. (Photo: Myself (Rally Organiser & Referee) accepting the surprise gift from all the teams). |

| It was with sadness that after over two weeks together we all had to go our seperate ways and head home again. I clocked 3,381 miles on the rally alone, others registered more than that. It was gruelling and challenging in places, but great fun and wouldn't have been missed in the world. If you like what you've seen, start planning now for the Autumn of 2010.
