RELAXING IN FRONT OF THE FIRE |

| One of my favourite books of all time is JRR Tolkiens Lord of the Rings. Maybe its because the plot is of a travelling quest nature. I dont know, but I can read this book over and over again and never tire of it. Maybe I enjoyed The Clan of the Cave Bear series for the same nomadic reason. Apart from these, my tastes tend towards the humour market and the likes of Tom Sharpe, Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams. For more serious authors I like the writings of Arthur Hailey and Clive Cussler for their adventures. | ![]() |

| My taste in music is varied. Provided it isnt repetitive and loud I can usually appreciate it. As a preference though my tastes tend towards music of a folk nature. I love traditional Irish and Scottish music and can easily lose myself when a live folk band are playing. In America I gravitated toward country music. It has the same feeling as folk and in a way it is the American folk music. Provided it's happy, any kind of music is O.K. by me. |

| Londons West End is my haven. When Im in the city, Ill frequently visit the theatres spread around the capital and preferably the musicals. Les Miserables & Blood Brothers are by far my favourites and Woman in Black is a very effective stage thriller. Of the comedy scene, The Reduced Shakespeare Company are certainly the best in town. Live performances have considerably more energy and interest than the sanitised world of the TV tube. |

| The cinema rarely appeals to me. If I do attend, its usually to accompany a friend or family. The last movie I specifically went to see for myself was Madonnas performance in Evita. Once again it was a musical and although lacking some of the feel of the stage version, it was a very good movie. This was considerably better than the mass produced action movie market that I have no personal interest in. The movie industry these days seem to have lost the ability to write plots and therefore substitute this with special effects. I most definitely avoid anything with a '2' after the title. This means to me a poor second attempt to cash in on the same plot. |

| I rarely turn on a television set at home and for three years whilst travelling, never once missed the mind control box. On the rare occasions that I find the TV switched on, my mind only takes notice during certain programming. Documentaries of a science nature will be the most likely to be left on. Men Behaving Badly, Black Adder, Red Dwarf and Yes Minister gives you an idea of the sitcoms I will occasionally watch, but not religiously follow. A definite turn off are the mindless reality shows like 'Big Brother' or 'I Used To Be A Celebrity And Will Eat Bugs To Be One Again Please'. Before writing to me, I know that isn't the real title, but it adequately explains the ethos of the show. |
